our history

I am a volunteer as a surf instructor for the Naval Medical CenterSan Diego (NMCSD), Surf Clinic located in Del Mar, San Diego. It was there that I met James McFadden. Even though I was assigned as his surf instructor, I would soon realize that James was a far better surfer than I. On our initial paddle out he was able to duck dive and beat me out to the line up on a challenging day. Oh, by the way James has one leg. Needless to say I was impressed. We would soon become close friends.

Makenzie Warner

Originally from the Bay Area, Kenzie grew up surfing the cold waters of Ocean Beach. After graduating high school in 2008, she moved to San Diego and followed her dream of becoming a professional surfer. She had the opportunity to travel to Australia, Indonesia, South America, and Mexico to compete in international fielded events. With all of her experience traveling, she gained invaluable knowledge that she applies to her everyday life and to her coaching. Kenzie wants to use her appreciation and passion for surfing to go into the sports medicine field. She is currently obtaining a B.S. in Exercise Science. Kenzie has 6 years of experience coaching and teaching kids how to surf. She is CPR/First Aide Certified.

Shane Lovell

Shane Lovell is originally from Oceanside, CA. He is both the founder and owner of One More Wave Surf Club. Shane was an employee of Vista Unified School district for 13 years, as a Special Needs teacher. He has been teaching kids to surf for over 10 years. Shane is very passionate about surfing and equally passionate about connecting with kids. He has a unique ability to inspire kids and naturally makes the environment he coaches in, fun and conducive to learning. Shane, his wife, and 3 daughters and live in Leucadia, CA.

Shane has surfed all over California, Baja, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. He is CPR/First Aide Certified.
